Chapter 219 - 216: Is Our Couple’s Resemblance That Obvious?

"How do you know he won’t like it?" Clara asked, looking at him curiously.

"Because little boys don’t like toys for little girls," Seth Quinn said matter-of-factly.

Clara ignored him. The more she looked at the music box, the more beautiful she found it, and the more certain she became that Cherie would love it. ’That settles it, this is the one.’

When they arrived at the hospital, the two of them got in an elevator and went up. The elevator stopped when the red numbers displayed the 20th floor.

The moment the elevator doors opened, Clara rushed out, only to bump into someone around the corner.

"I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry." Forgetting all about the music box that had nearly fallen to the floor, Clara hurriedly apologized to the person she’d bumped into. When she saw it was an elderly woman, she quickly asked, "Ma’am, are you all right?"

When Sienna Hale heard her, a huge smile spread across her face, despite the fact that Clara was addressing her as a stranger and not as family. "It’s quite all right, it’s quite all right, young lady. The way you said ’ma’am’ was just so lovely. Say it again for me."

Seth Quinn hadn’t paid much attention at first. Sienna Hale was in disguise, so he hadn’t recognized her initially.

But the moment she spoke, Seth Quinn recognized her voice. He raised an eyebrow and looked her way.

’My troublesome mother,’ he thought. ’Just as I expected, she couldn’t resist following us here. All just to get a look at the daughter-in-law she’s never met—Clara Grant.’

Hearing Sienna Hale say that, Clara gave a couple of awkward laughs. ’This woman sure is... something else.’

Still, it was no big deal to say it again. So, she smiled and said, "Ma’am, are you heading downstairs? Here, let me help you to the elevator."

"Oh, there’s no rush, young lady! What’s your name? How old are you? Are you married?"

Sienna Hale thought Clara’s smile was absolutely adorable and beautiful, and her voice was so pleasant. Even though she already knew all this about her, she couldn’t help but grasp for topics of conversation, just wanting to chat with her a little longer.

But before Clara could open her mouth to answer, Seth Quinn, who was standing behind her, covered his mouth and coughed lightly twice. Sienna Hale looked over and met her son’s warning glare.

Yesterday, Seth had called home to say that Clara was coming to see Cherie at the hospital today, and that Cherie would need to stay for half the day. The moment she heard, she started planning to tag along and see her daughter-in-law in person.

But Seth, as if he could read her mind, had specifically told her not to come.

In the end, she came anyway, but she put on a disguise to avoid any awkwardness when she and her daughter-in-law were formally introduced later.

Now, she just wanted to chat a little more with her daughter-in-law, but her own son wouldn’t even let her do that.

Still, since Seth didn’t want her to, she’d let it go. Besides, she felt an instant liking for Clara. She seemed so well-behaved, kind, and sensible. Her initial impression of her daughter-in-law was a satisfying one.

"Oh my, young lady, look, your husband is getting impatient. I won’t keep you any longer, I’ll be on my way now." After she spoke, she shot Seth Quinn an irritated glare.

Her words, "your husband," made Clara subconsciously sneak a peek at Seth Quinn. ’Are we that obviously a couple?’ she wondered in surprise. ’Even this elderly woman could tell he’s my husband?’

Clara carefully helped the old woman into the elevator, waited patiently as she pressed the ’close’ button, and then waved goodbye with a smile.

She waited until the elevator doors had shut completely before turning to go back.

When she rounded the corner, she immediately saw Seth Quinn. He was leaning against the wall, one hand in his pocket, the other holding the music box she’d bought for Cherie. He was looking right at her with a raised eyebrow and a smile.

The sight of him was like a blow to Clara’s heart, which started to pound relentlessly. THUMP-THUMP-THUMP.
