Chapter 223 - 220: Why Don’t You Try and See If You’ll Get Infected?

"Ahem..." Before he could finish, Seth Quinn let out another soft cough. Clara Grant glanced back at him. ’Why is he coughing so much today?’ she wondered. ’Does he have a cold?’

Rowan Linden shot him a wry look. ’Heh. Didn’t he say that once he achieved his goal, he wouldn’t care if she hated him after finding out the truth?’

’He’s successfully married Clara Grant now, so why does he look anything but unafraid of her hating him?’

"Dr. Linden, are you saying Cherie’s surgery was a success? That she’s recovering quickly and is in good health now?" Clara Grant asked, turning back to Rowan Linden.

Rowan Linden figured that since Seth hadn’t decided to tell her the truth yet, he might as well play along. ’That’s what friends are for, right?’

"Yes, her condition looks good. There are no major issues at the moment. We’ll keep her under observation for a little longer, and if nothing comes up, she can be discharged."

"Oh, that’s wonderful." Clara’s face lit up with relief. She thanked Rowan Linden, "Thank you so much, Dr. Linden. You’re a true miracle worker."

’A true miracle worker?’ Rowan Linden chuckled. "Miss Grant, you’re exaggerating."

"Not at all." Clara smiled and waved her hands dismissively. Then, as if remembering something, she added with a sigh, "It must be so tough being a doctor, always on call and ready to rush to the hospital. Did another important patient ruin your time off?"

"Time off?" Rowan Linden paused. "I’m not..."

Ahem... There was another soft cough.

Rowan Linden caught on and smiled. "Yes, my time off went down the drain. But it’s no big deal; it’s my job. No profession is easy. It’s like you actors—filming is hard work, too. By the way, what’s that drama of yours called... right, *A Lifetime of Splendor*. When it airs, I’ll have to watch it, if only to show my support."

"Heh, well, thank you, Dr. Linden." Clara felt a little shy.

"Well, I should get going. I have other things to attend to." Rowan Linden smiled and said his goodbyes to her, then turned to Seth Quinn. "Seth, I’m heading out."

As he walked over to Seth, he stopped, tilted his head, and patted him on the shoulder. "By the way, I’ve heard you coughing a little. Are you coming down with something? If you are, you should get that checked out by a doctor. Don’t just tough it out."

Without waiting for Seth Quinn’s reaction, he smiled and walked away.

Once his figure disappeared around the corner, Clara drew her gaze back, thinking about what Dr. Linden had just said as she looked at Seth Quinn.

’Dr. Linden is a doctor. Even if internal medicine isn’t his specialty, he’s still a professional. If he said Seth might have a cold, then he probably really does.’

Clara’s lips parted. She hesitated, wondering if she should tell him to see a doctor, but it felt strange. ’It would sound like I care about him.’

"What is it?" Seth Quinn asked, noticing her hesitation.

"Oh, I was just thinking... you should probably see a doctor. Even Dr. Linden said you might have a cold."

’Oops. He asked, and the words just tumbled out before she could stop them.’

Seth Quinn froze for a second before a smile touched his lips. His gaze bore into her. "Are you worried about me?"

’See? I knew he’d misunderstand and think I was worried about him.’

"Who’s worried about you? I’m just... I’m just afraid that if you have a cold, I’ll catch it from you." Flustered, Clara snapped back and turned to go back into the hospital room.

But he grabbed her hand. Just as she turned back, he gave a sharp tug, pulling her straight into his arms.

Seth Quinn’s amused voice sounded from above her head. "Afraid you’ll catch it? Why don’t we try it out and see?"
