Chapter 612
Chapter 612
「Sea City First Hospital.」
Li Fei and a group of experts were all gathered there, including medical specialists from various regions, as well as some Magicians and Feng Shui Masters.
A car stopped outside the hospital, and Li Yang entered with Yang Qi and his companions. Since it wasn’t a contagious disease, entry was unrestricted.
The hospital’s large ward housed more than a dozen patients, all of them in serious condition.
A group of people were discussing something, obviously very anxious. This was especially true for Li Fei, the City Lord of Sea City, whose expression was grim.
"Dad, I’ve brought an expert who can definitely help you," Li Yang said proudly.
Li Fei frowned. This son of mine... he’s usually up to no good, just hanging around with a bunch of scoundrels. Fortunately, while he makes plenty of small mistakes, he’s never made a big one. Otherwise, I’d probably die of anger.
"What are you doing here? Isn’t it chaotic enough already?"
The speaker was a man with a powerful aura, clearly an Overlord-level master. After all, he was both the Family Head of the Li Family and the City Lord of Sea City.
Li Yang didn’t seem to care, chuckling as he said, "Dad, who says I can’t help? Mr. Yang here is someone who can use Spells and is skilled in Medical Skills. Isn’t he exactly the talent you need?"
Li Fei gave Yang Qi a brief glance and frowned slightly. He’s only in his twenties; he doesn’t look reliable at all. If you’re going to find a swindler, at least get an older one. My son is truly hopeless.
However, he was now completely out of options. It was a case of a desperate man trying anything. Sea City was in big trouble, and he couldn’t just ignore it. Otherwise, the Li Family wouldn’t be able to keep the position of City Lord, and they might even be forced to abdicate.
Beyond that, the illness was getting worse. If this continued, Sea City’s economy would be severely impacted. Now, even the most famous doctors in the city were at their wit’s end, and the doctors from the Capital City could only shrug their shoulders.
What else can I do but put my faith in these strange and unusual things? He’d already found it utterly preposterous when his son told him about a Golden Eagle over ten meters long on the Mountain of Wonders, not to mention a Magician who could command a pack of wolves. The boy must have read too many novels; he’s starting to lose his grip on reality.
Now, seeing that Yang Qi was only in his twenties, his disdain grew. Still, as a man of some refinement, he kept his thoughts to himself, but in his heart, he was certain his son had been duped by a charlatan. A real master should be like one of these men from the south around him. That Master Zhang, in particular, is impressive. The things he says are so obscure and profound; he sounds truly capable. Wherein lies the greatness of a true master? It’s in saying things you can’t possibly understand, quoting classics and sounding utterly authoritative.
Li Fei smiled at Yang Qi, then immediately ignored him. He turned to Master Zhang with great interest, observing the beautiful Feng Shui Compass in his hands. He had seen such Compasses in movies, and that, combined with Master Zhang’s peculiar gait, screamed "expert."
Yang Qi saw this and couldn’t help but sneer. It’s always the real charlatans who speak in ambiguous, pretentious terms to confuse you, when in reality, they have no skill whatsoever. But he didn’t say anything, merely turning his gaze toward the patients.
"Li Yang, keep your man in check! What kind of place do you think this is? Don’t touch anything!"
Suddenly, a voice rang out. It was Li Fei’s younger brother and Li Yang’s second uncle, Li Tian, the Second Master of the City Lord Mansion.
Li Yang hastily made a hushing gesture. "Uncle, don’t be reckless with your words. Mr. Yang is a person of great Divine Skills, and we can’t afford to offend him. Whether Sea City’s troubles can be resolved depends on him. I know you all look down on me, and I don’t care, but you can’t look down on Mr. Yang."
Li Tian glanced at Yang Qi and frowned. He was an ordinary man with some skill in Martial Arts, so naturally, he couldn’t perceive Yang Qi’s true abilities. However, his nephew’s intentions were good, so he didn’t want to discourage him too much.
"Alright, alright, let him take a look," Li Tian said with a wave of his hand. "But make sure he doesn’t disturb Master Zhang. That one is a truly capable man."
Li Yang started to say more, but Yang Qi stopped him. "It’s fine. I’ll just take a look myself."
A moment later, Yang Qi looked at Li Yang. "I’ll give you a prescription. Have your men go get the herbs."
"You can cure this illness?" Li Yang asked excitedly.
"Just go get the herbs. No more questions," Yang Qi said.
"Right!" Li Yang called two men over and sent them off with the prescription.
Li Tian, however, just shook his head. He’s a charlatan, just as I thought. An illness that stumped so many medical experts, and he thinks he can cure it with a casual glance, without even taking a pulse? How ludicrous! I’m now even more convinced my nephew has been deceived. This definitely isn’t a medical issue; it’s a feng shui problem. It has to be solved by that Master Zhang and the other Feng Shui Masters from the south.
Yang Qi, of course, ignored what others were thinking. He was focused on the root of the problem. Curing the illness was no problem, but if he couldn’t find the source of the outbreak, any treatment would be pointless. The disease would simply return.
Just then, Master Zhang spoke up. "City Lord Li, I have found the source of the problem!"
"What is it?" Li Fei asked excitedly, thinking the problem was about to be solved.
With a flourish, Master Zhang announced, "I have observed the feng shui and fortune of Sea City and discovered a gloom hanging over it, caused by an invasion of evil energy. This is what’s causing the locals to fall ill so frequently. We need only spend some money to set up an evil-warding array to disperse the malevolent spirits, and the problem will be solved."
"Cost is no issue. As long as you can solve Sea City’s troubles, we are willing to pay," Li Fei said, nearly frantic.
A glint flashed in Master Zhang’s eyes. He frowned and said, "You must understand, this concerns all of Sea City. The evil-warding array will have to be massive. By my rough calculations, it will cost several billion, at least. I wonder if you can manage that, City Lord Li? If not, we can forget it. After all, this is an extremely dangerous undertaking."
"If I try to forcefully expel the evil energy and it invades my body, I’ll be the one to suffer."
"Master Zhang is truly benevolent, working to save all living beings," said Li Fei. Although he didn’t fully believe the Master, at this point, he had no other choice.
Several billion is nothing to Sea City. As long as this mess is resolved, it’ll be a blessing from the heavens.
Just then, however, a cold voice rang out. "The audacity! To toy with the lives of tens of millions of people! Who gave you such gall!"
Hearing this, everyone froze, turning to see that the speaker was, to their surprise, Yang Qi.
