Chapter 400: He Specially Prepared This Romance for Her
After getting off the taxi, Evelyn walked straight along the road of Southwood, as Caden Lockwood had mentioned over the phone that if she kept going forward, she would see him.
Evelyn had been to Southwood once before, and back then, it didn’t seem to have so many lights.
But now, there were a lot more lights of various styles around here, especially, with each step she took forward, the lights became even brighter.
Turning back, she looked at the road she had walked down; the rows of lights were like two long rainbows, incredibly beautiful.
Evelyn blinked and continued walking forward.
The lights in front of her eyes grew brighter and more beautiful, as if this place was hosting a lantern festival.
As Evelyn walked inside alone, she wondered why such a beautiful scene would be appreciated only by her.
Even though this was the suburbs and there were fewer people, it shouldn’t be that she’s the only one here!
Evelyn’s heart was in her throat.
Moreover, how had she not heard that Southwood had become so lovely?
And that Caden Lockwood had actually chosen this place for their long-awaited reunion?
Evelyn was taken aback, a glimmer flashed in her eyes—could this be the romance Caden had prepared for her?
With that thought, Evelyn took a deep breath and temporarily suppressed her uneasy emotions.
She didn’t want to be bothered by anything else.
She only knew that at this moment, she didn’t want to encounter any difficulties on the path to reconcile with Caden.
The thought that all of this might be arranged by Caden made Evelyn’s heart race even faster.
Caden still stood there motionless, and as Evelyn’s figure became clearer within his line of sight, a colder aura surrounded him.
Evelyn obviously saw Caden too, her heart leaped to her throat, instinctively wanting to run toward him, but she was worried it might seem undignified.
After all, up till now, she still didn’t know why Caden had asked her to come out!
What if he wasn’t looking to make up, but was going to break up with her for good?
Surely, the mysteries around him were many.
Nonetheless, after not seeing him for so many days, he doesn’t seem to have changed much.
Caden was still wearing a black suit, and under the moonlight and lamplight, his silhouette elongated—the tall and sturdy figure stood there, a beautiful sight even without seeing his face.
Caden stood with his back to the light, making it hard to see his expression clearly, but the straight line of his thin lips held no curve—his mood definitely seemed bad.
Evelyn’s heart skipped a beat.
She had assumed that Caden called her out to have a good talk.
But looking at this atmosphere now, it seemed he didn’t plan to talk nicely!
The steps moving toward Caden gradually became hesitant, Evelyn walked slower and slower, even contemplating not continuing forward.
She thought to herself: If Caden came to discuss a breakup, what should she do?
How should she face the final ultimatum he might give her?
Like Evelyn, Caden was also scrutinizing her.
Her eyes were indeed red; even if she tried hard to disguise it, she couldn’t hide the pallor of her cheeks and the guilty hesitation on her face.
She dressed beautifully today; the white dress made her look like an angel.
But Caden felt that the woman walking toward him was a demon.
A demon who trampled on his heart at will!
Caden’s fists clenched so tightly that they cracked, and seeing him like this, Evelyn had no choice but to halt her steps.
After not seeing each other for a while, the longing had now been replaced by fear.
Seeing the uncertain softness in Evelyn’s eyes, Caden softly parted his thin lips: "Who did you have dinner with tonight? The dinner... you’d been looking forward to?"
