Chapter 593 Enemies on a Narrow Road
Chapter 593 Enemies on a Narrow Road
Witnessing this, the members of the San Ye Sect were utterly shocked. Many of them were at least somewhat familiar with the Ye Family.
Their familiarity was slight, but it shouldn’t be underestimated. Sometimes, that sliver of knowledge was enough to inspire immense terror. Because they only knew a little, they imagined the Ye Family to be an unimaginably powerful, even monstrous, entity.
Yet now, Lin Kuang had easily defeated three of their members and dared to go toe-to-toe with them. This was a clear demonstration of his own power.
The most shocked of all was Luo Wenjun. To be honest, when he learned that people from the Ye Family were coming, his heart had leaped into his throat, and he had no idea what to do. However, Lin Kuang had stepped in and easily resolved the issue, which made Luo Wenjun want to worship him as a god.
Of course, Luo Wenjun wasn’t foolish. He understood that now that Lin Kuang had offended the Ye Family, they would certainly seek revenge.
But with Lin Kuang being so powerful, what was there to fear?
Moreover, Luo Wenjun had no other choice. Since he had decided to follow Lin Kuang, he had to place his trust in him. After all, if he wanted to rise through the ranks, he had to be willing to pay a price. He couldn’t just get a pie from the sky; that was impossible. Rewards required investment, and a basic price had to be paid.
"Mr. Lin, you are truly powerful," Luo Wenjun muttered to himself.
"Alright, everyone disperse. There’s nothing more to see here," Lin Kuang announced, feeling a sense of satisfaction as he saw the awe in their eyes.
This was exactly the effect he wanted, and he had certainly achieved it.
Upon hearing Lin Kuang’s words, the crowd finally snapped back to reality and began to disperse.
"Mr. Luo, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving. Call me if you need anything," Lin Kuang said with a smile as he looked at Luo Wenjun.
"Yes, of course, Mr. Lin. You can leave without worry. I’ll make sure the San Ye Sect is well-managed," Luo Wenjun said. This time, he was utterly convinced of Lin Kuang’s abilities and full of admiration.
Hearing this, Lin Kuang nodded. "Alright then, I’ll leave this to you. Wan’er, let’s go."
With that, Lin Kuang called out to Mu Wan. She gave a small smile and obediently came to his side, and the two of them left together.
Watching Lin Kuang leave, Luo Wenjun finally let out a breath of relief. The sheer pressure from his presence had been suffocating.
"You really know how to show off, don’t you? Tell me, is this how you get all your women?" Mu Wan grumbled once they were in the car.
"Ahem, Wan’er, my dear, you can’t say that about me. Do I really need to use such low-level tricks to pick up girls?" Lin Kuang said with a cocky toss of his head.
"Tsk, shameless," Mu Wan retorted, rolling her eyes at him in annoyance. "Is everything settled? If it is, let’s go shopping."
"Of course! Let’s go shopping right now, my dear Wan’er," Lin Kuang said cheerfully before driving off.
They arrived at the commercial district, where Lin Kuang found a parking spot. Once parked, they got out and entered the shopping area. It wasn’t really a stroll; it was just plain shopping. Lin Kuang’s only jobs were to carry the bags and swipe the card.
They shopped until late in the afternoon before finally finding a restaurant for a meal.
"Wan’er, I’m dead tired," Lin Kuang couldn’t help but complain the moment he sat down.
To him, shopping was more torturous than going to war. A battle was at least exhilarating, but an afternoon of shopping was enough to leave him dog-tired.
"Is that so? Then let’s continue tomorrow," Mu Wan said with a mischievous grin, her mood clearly excellent.
Upon hearing this, Lin Kuang’s expression soured. I and my big mouth... Why did I have to say that? Now I’m in for it.
"My dear Wan’er, you’re not messing with me, are you? You have to be joking," Lin Kuang said, leaning in close with a wheedling grin.
"As if I’d joke about something like that," Mu Wan huffed.
Her words left Lin Kuang utterly crushed. My life is a tragedy!
"Fine then, we’ll continue tomorrow," Lin Kuang said dejectedly.
"What do you want to eat? My treat," Mu Wan asked with a smile.
At her words, Lin Kuang’s mood soured even more. This girl has perfected the art of giving a slap and then offering a piece of candy. How cruel!
A wicked smile crept onto Lin Kuang’s lips as he thought about sharing a bed with Mu Wan that night. Just you wait. I’ll get my own back tonight! If I can’t handle you during the day, I’ll handle you at night.
"Hey, what’s that wicked smile for? I asked what you want to eat," Mu Wan said, unamused.
"Oh! Uh, nothing. Anything’s fine. What do you want to eat?" Lin Kuang asked quickly, snapping back to his senses.
"Let’s just get whatever. I’m not sure what I want either," Mu Wan replied.
The two ordered four dishes and chatted while they waited.
It’s often said that enemies have a way of crossing paths, and that was certainly the case now.
Chang Yu, the very same young man who had been taught a lesson by Lin Kuang the previous night, just so happened to walk into the same restaurant. Trailing behind him were five or six men, including the one called Old Fourth.
"HOLY SHIT!"
As soon as they entered the restaurant, Old Fourth shouted, startling Chang Yu.
"Dammit, are you on something? What are you screaming about?" Chang Yu cursed irritably. He was still in a foul mood from being tossed into West Lake the night before.
"No, no, Young Master Chang, I’m not on anything," Old Fourth said quickly.
"Well, if you haven’t taken your medicine, then go take some! Stop making a racket in here," Chang Yu snapped.
"But, Young Master Chang..." Old Fourth tried again.
"But nothing! Shut your fucking mouth!" Chang Yu roared, his face ugly with anger.
"No, you shut your fucking mouth!" Old Fourth bellowed back, his voice thundering like Heavenly Lightning.
Chang Yu was completely dumbfounded. This idiot Old Fourth actually dared to yell at him? Does he have a death wish?
However, before Chang Yu could say a word, Old Fourth forcibly turned his head and pointed toward Lin Kuang and Mu Wan.
"Young Master Chang, isn’t that the guy who threw us into West Lake last night?!" Old Fourth exclaimed.
Seeing them, Chang Yu blinked, momentarily forgetting that Old Fourth had just yelled at him.
"Yes... yes, it’s them! Son of a bitch, to think we’d run into them here! Just watch how I’m going to deal with them this time!" Chang Yu seethed, his face flushing red and his eyes filled with venom.
I’ve never been so humiliated in my entire life, and it’s all his fault. How can I possibly tolerate this? No way! Absolutely not!
